Getting Connected Globally!

Papa 'Ehā has been learning about geography by participating in a game called Mystery Skype with other classes around the world.  Students take turns with the other classes asking yes or no questions to gain enough information to guess where the other class is located.  Students need to problem solve using logic and mapping skills to ask efficient questions.

Students are divided into groups that have different kuleana.  We have mappers, who are responsible to using information gained to eliminate places on the map.  Questioners use the information on the map to generate questions that will provide us with more information to locate the other class.  Answerers need to be knowledgeable enough about the geographic location of our state to answer all questions received. Runners relay I for, action between groups and the anchors are on camera hosting the session.  Students take turns trying different jobs to help develop their communication, collaboration and problem solving skills.

So far, we have Skyped with students in Canada, Missouri, Florida, New Jersey, Ohio and Tennessee.  We love learning about students in other schools and we also get to share important information about our school, state and Hawaiian culture.  Due to our unique location, other classes love to hear what we have to say!  You can follow our learning on Twitter @PapaEha.
