Sept. 12, 2016

Haumāna signed an agreement, pledging to:

Hoʻolohe (give full attention to the speaker)

Noho Pololei (choose a position and posture for learning)

Hoʻihi (be respectful, especially when speaking to others and in pule)

Hana Kūpono (do their best at whatever task is asked of them)

Mālama i ka manawa (use their time wisely) and

Mai hoʻopau manawa (not waste time).

They demonstrated an understanding of these expectations in a variety of ways.

K-1st grade drew pictures and role played different scenarios that illustrated maikaʻi behavior.  Second graders looked up verses in their bible and created an ipad presentation that supported the expectations.  3rd-5th graders made videos or other media presentations that exemplified pono behavior in contrast with ponoʻole choices.  Haumāna accepted their kuleana and made a commitment to create a positive environment for student learning this year.
