With the extreme weather event taking place affecting our state, and our island in particular, in an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to close our kula for on-campus activities and will pivot to distance learning or asynchronous (not scheduled) learning from home for Monday, December 6, 2021. Keep a look out for additional messaging with specific details from your division po’o later this evening.
We make this decision with information from our county Civil Defense and Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency (HIEMA), based on details we have at this time from the National Weather Service, and recognizing the geographic spread of many of our haumāna and hoa kumu. The weather effects have been likened to those of a category 3 hurricane and government officials are warning that conditions could be catastrophic. The weather service does not see these conditions changing due to the sustained nature of the storm. We encourage you to keep informed through various media outlets.
We will update our kauhale tomorrow to confirm our school programming for Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
