Student films from Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi and Hilo High School were featured in the first-ever, Hawaiʻi Island Film Festival.
Students competed for best in show awards in 12 different categories including best 1-minute videos, best directing, most original, and best overall film. Ultimately the festival was a chance to showcase student voice and creativity.
Students submitted their videos for entry into the festival and a panel of seven judges selected to top winners in each category.
Top overall film award was given to KS Hawaiʻi senior Tai Atkins for his "One Day" Project Kuleana music video.
The event was live broadcast on the Lehua TV YouTube channel.
The Hawaiʻi Island Film Festival is the legacy project of senior Makamae Kamaka-Mauhili.
