Sundayʻs Pinch of Salt event offers unique pop-up shops

Shoppers looking for a retail experience with a li’l twist can head to Our Kaka‘ako’s “A Pinch of Salt for the Holidays” happening this Sunday, December 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 445 and 449 Cooke Street. 

The free, pop-up event brings together a host of unique local retailers that you can’t find at the mall including Hilo designer Sig Zane.

This family-friendly event will also include food, live caroling and an interactive holiday-themed photo opportunity with a Santa’s Workshop display.
    
“A Pinch of Salt for the Holidays is an opportunity for attendees to preview SALT, Honolulu’s urban island marketplace that will open fall 2015,” says Kamehameha Schools Marketing Manager Erin Kinney.

“SALT will include an eclectic mix of local retailers and restaurants similar to those currently located on the block bordered by Ala Moana Boulevard, Keawe, Auahi, and Coral streets.”

Event highlights:

  • Sig Zane pop-up shop featuring men and women’s clothing and other unique items
  • Local retailers including Salt Liko, Kira Hawaii, Andy South, The Cut Collective, A. Wattz Dezigns, Hiilani Hawaii, Nak on Wood, Megumi, Happy Town Hawaii, Mojo Barbershop, and Wrappily
  • Eateries including Onda Pasta, Pinwheel Hawaii (ice cream sandwiches), Hawaiian Fresh Farms, Petit Suisse Crepes and Beyond Burgers
  • Family-friendly activities and Christmas caroling by Hawaii Opera Theatre’s Orvis Studios
  • Interactive Santa’s Workshop display
  • Festive Our Kaka‘ako buildable block Lego® model

Hilo-based clothing designer Sig Zane grew up surfing along the shores of Kakaʻako. This Sunday he will debut a wave of his latest products at "A Pinch of Salt for the Holidays," a pop-up shopping event in Our Kakaʻako.


Fashion designer Ari South of "Project Runway" fame will showcase a spectrum of ready-to-wear attire.


Pop-up eateries will include farm-to-fork delicacies from Hawaiian Fresh farms.
