First grade is exploring sound and vibrations. They are exploring making vibrations with matter (solid, liquid, gas). They made three instruments: a kazoo, a trumpet and one, I call, “the chicken cup.” They concentrated on feeling the vibration and learning how vibrations can cause sounds!
Kindergarten is ending their Ocean Unit. The students learned that trash on our beach and in our oceans can cause an unhealthy reef and harm the living things in the ocean. Each class is taking things we would throw away in science and making ocean animals out of them. Their imaginations and creativity has blown me away!
Second grade has been helping our elementary school recycle paper. They collected paper from all of the classes for 5 days and have been working on graphing the results. The students found out our elementary school recycled 187 pounds of paper in one week, which means we saved almost two trees. Imagine the impact we could make in a year…Now, they are learning how to make recycled paper.
