We are happy to announce that Zoe Leonard has been selected to serve Kamehameha Schools Hawaii as our Head Girls Volleyball Coach beginning in the 2025-2026 school year.
Raised in Hilo, volleyball has always been a central part of Zoe's life-she's been playing since she could walk. Her decorated playing career includes multiple all-league and all-state recognitions while playing for Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi, including four consecutive BIIF DI titles from 2011-2014. After high school, Zoe continued her playing career at Division | Dartmouth College, where she was a four-year starter, two-time captain, Academic All-Ivy League selection, and Second Team All-Ivy League honoree. She was also named Rookie of the Year (2015) and Player of the Year (2018) by her teammates and coaches.
"This isn’t just a coaching role, it’s a calling," shares Leonard. "Although I’ve spent the past six years coaching at the collegiate level, stepping into this position means the world to me. I get to pour into these young wāhine during one of the most formative times in their lives, just as so many coaches and mentors did for me."
Zoe brings with her experience coaching at both the club and collegiate levels, including seasons at her Division I alma mater, Dartmouth College, as well as five seasons on staff at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. Since 2022, Zoe has also served Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi as a Higher Education Transition Specialist, helping connect current students with the right destination for their post-high journey as well as keeping in contact with students as they begin that journey in college, providing additional support to help them transition to kula nui.
Leonard continues "I left our high school team carrying with me the lessons, values, and legacy of those who came before me, alongside my sisters and best friends for life. It’s a privilege to return to the place that helped shape me, and I’m committed to helping to carry on the legacy of Kamehameha Schools and Ke Aliʻi Pauahi with integrity, heart, and respect. I Mua Kamehameha!"
Ho'omaika'i to Zoe as we welcome her into this new role. We couldn't be prouder and look forward to the energy she brings through her passion for both education and athletics, in alignment with her personal commitment to uplift and support Native Hawaiian youth.
Zoe Leonard will return to the Koaiʻa Gym courts as the new head coach of our girls volleyball team.
