Nearly a thousand ‘ōiwi leaders gathered virtually in December for the twentieth annual Native Hawaiian Convention. The event, sponsored by the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, is the largest convening of Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders in the state.

Among the speakers at the conference were Kamehameha Schools CEO Jack Wong and Vice President of Community and ʻĀina Resiliency Kā‘eo Duarte who spoke about local food systems, and Hi‘ialo Vice President Wai‘ale‘ale Sarsona who shared info on the pandemic’s impact on Native Hawaiians and KS community education programs.
