Haumāna from Keaukaha Elementary School visited the Kumuola Marine Science Education Center, a Kamehameha Schools collaborative learning site at the Waiāhole loko iʻa (Hawaiian fishpond) near Keaukaha on Hawai‘i island.
With support from KS Kealapono and Keaukaha Elementary kumu, haumāna explored, built, tested and observed their device inventions to gather and clean debris that accumulate in the mākāhā (fish pond entrance).
Kealapono, housed within KS’ Community Education Division, provides education programming to elementary-level keiki and educators in collaboration with select DOE and charter schools.
