Kakaʻako’s largest block party returns Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with Our Kaka‘ako Honolulu Night Market: Mahina Māhealani presented by Hawaiian Airlines Bank of Hawaii World Elite Mastercard.

In celebration of the Hawaiian lunar calendar, this edition of Honolulu Night Market will feature new opportunities for attendees to support local musicians and designers while learning about the Hawaiian cultural significance of the moon. The sky will be lit by the māhealani moon, the last night of the four Hawaiian full moons, which is considered an auspicious time for gathering, planting and fishing.

“Honolulu Night Market is returning with even more for all to experience!” Kamehameha Schools director of planning and development Pualani Hao said. “Beneath the beautiful mahina māhealani full moon, we are excited to honor and learn more about Hawaiian moon traditions and support local artists and entrepreneurs as part of the extraordinary nightlife and entertainment that makes Honolulu Night Market one of our community’s most beloved events.”

Attendees are highly encouraged to ride share to this free, family-friendly community event. Parking will be available at the SALT at Our Kaka‘ako parking garage at 333 Keawe Street and The Flats at Pu‘unui parking garage at 440 Keawe Street. Additional event parking will be available at the Waterfront Plaza parking garage at 500 Ala Moana Blvd.

New or expanded features of the upcoming Honolulu Night Market include:

• Live music performances by O‘ahu-born reggae artist Likkle Jordee and Native Hawaiian/Samoan artist Dillon Pakele and more! Our Kakaʻako is excited to present a powerhouse lineup of performances from established and up-and-coming local artists in partnership with Haku Collective, a full-service, multimedia talent production, management and music licensing company in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi created by artists for artists.
• A special 50th anniversary fashion show by Nake‘u Awai Designs providing a retrospective look at their designs by combining historical pieces with modern looks. Often touted as the Grandfather of Hawaiʻi fashion, Kamehameha Schools alumnus Nakeʻu Awai was the first Hawaiian designer to locally create prints using native and indigenous flora as inspiration (now known as “Hawaiian print”).
• A collaborative fashion show featuring looks from Moloka‘i-based activewear brand [Ep-ik] Style paired with ‘āina-inspired gel nail strips from Iwi Nails. [Ep-ik] Style and Iwi Nails are members of Hawaiʻi FoundHer Cohort 2, an accelerator program run by the Purple Maiʻa Foundation that is tailored specifically to the needs of Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and/or Asian women and mothers starting businesses.
• Moongazing with Stargazers of Hawaiʻi and ‘Ohana Kilo Hōkū. Connect with local experts in celestial studies, ask questions of astronomers, and view and capture your own photo of mahina māhealani with high-quality telescopes.
• Moon phase readings led by cultural practitioners from Ka Mahina Project. Learn about Hina, the Hawaiian Moon Goddess, your birth moon phase, and the meaning of each of the 29.5 phases from hilo to muku (new moon to no moon). Be inspired to incorporate ka wā kahiko (the stories of old) in your life for greater mauliola (well-being).
• Youth breakdancing by Keiki Breaks, Concrete Zen, and Southside Breakers.
• Special events at The Barn at SALT at Our Kaka‘ako for Hawaiian Airlines® Bank of Hawaii World Elite Mastercard® members.
• Opening protocol and keiki hula performances.
