Kamehameha Schools has named Giorgio Caldarone director of real estate planning, a newly created position in the trust’s Commercial Real Estate Division.

Caldarone is responsible for developing portfolio, regional and market-area plans that enhance economic and non-economic strategic returns for KS.

He is expected to work closely with KS educational, community, commercial, environmental and cultural staff members to develop land use and program plans that advance the organization’s mission and values.

“I’m just honored and excited to be working with such a dedicated group of professionals and supporting the mission of Kamehameha Schools through the management of these commercial lands,” Caldarone said.

Over the past 10 years, Caldarone has served as regional manager of KS’ Land Assets Division, overseeing residential and agricultural initiatives and heading up Kamehameha utility-scale sustainable energy projects.

“As a regional manager, Giorgio was primarily focused on planning various efforts that would generate income on our agricultural lands to support our educational initiatives,” said KS Chief of Staff Walter Thoemmes.

“As the director of real estate planning, his kuleana will be no different. He’ll just be working with a different category of lands. Giorgio’s comprehensive experience in planning that spans community and sustainability makes him the perfect fit for this position.”

Prior to joining the commercial real estate team, Caldarone was involved in the success of a variety of key initiatives for the schools.

He led Kamehameha’s award-winning 2008 North Shore Plan and was instrumental in the planning and implementation of Kamehameha’s 2009 Strategic Agricultural Plan

In 2014, he was credited for advancing a proposal for Hawai‘i’s largest solar farm, planned for 250 acres on KS land in Waiawa. Recently approved by Hawaiian Electric Company, the project at completion is expected to generate enough energy to power roughly 9,800 homes.

Calderone holds a bachelor's degree in environmental science from West Point and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Hawaiʻi’s Shidler School of Business.
