This weekend, sit down and watch “Moʻo Huelo: The Tale of a Tail” from the 2019 KEAKA Hawaiian Language Theater Festival featuring Kanaloa - KS Hawaiʻi class of 2018 alumni Kuʻuhiapo Jeong and Jameson Sato. The music for the play was also written by 2008 alumnus Jace Saplan.

“Moʻo Huelo: The Tale of a Tail” is a Hawaiian language musical for children that follows the journey of a young boy named Kama who goes on a quest to help a superhero, and in the process discovers his own special ability. During his adventure, he encounters a variety of strange characters including talking ʻuaʻu birds, a grouchy Happy-Face Spider, and a chorus of crazy crickets. The superhero, “Geckoman,” is a character plucked from the pages of a local Hawaiʻi comic book series called Mana Comics.

Jeong takes on the lead role of Kama, while Sato dons the superhero duds of Geckoman.

The production was captured and is made available by ʻŌiwi TV. In addition to the YouTube link, you can watch on-demand on Spectrum ch. 326.
