Supported by our Kula Kiʻekiʻe staff and kumu, Ala ʻŌiwi evolved from a 10th grade exploration project presentation to an anthology exploring Hawaiian identity filled with the voices and creative works of Kamehameha Hawaiʻi haumāna and alumni.

Hear co-editors Travis Chai Andrade and Lehua Waianuhea talk about their vision and inspiration for this undertaking and their hopes for the future of Ala ʻŌiwi!

Inspired by a 10th grade project from Ms. Corrine Kanno, Lehua and Travis came up with the idea of the Ala ʻŌiwi journal.

The culmination of their work was a printed journal capturing the voices of dozens of students and alumni of Kamehameha Hawaiʻi.
