KS Ed Tech Conference registration due May 22

Registration for the 2015 KS Education Technology Conference is due on Friday, May 22. The conference, themed “Hana Pono” (to work with purpose/passion), will be from June 8 through10, at the Neal Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall.

The two-day conference for educators, hosted by the Kamehameha Schools Information Technology division, will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, and Wednesday June 10, with a FREE “Unconference” on Monday, June 8, from noon to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $165 per person for the two-day event, with a continental breakfast and lunch provided.

The Unconference is a participant-driven, discussion-based event filled with interesting conversations with like-minded people, and is limited to 100 participants. Learn more about the event and sign up to participate at the Unconference registration site.

Stephen Ritz is scheduled to be a keynote speaker. He is a South Bronx educator/administrator who was named a 2015 Top Ten Finalist for the Global Teacher Prize. Ritz believes that students shouldn't have to leave their community to live, learn and earn, in a better one. His extended student and community family has grown more than 30,000 pounds of vegetables in the Bronx while generating extraordinary academic performance.

The annual conference is packed with high-tech, high-energy activities. Above, newly named Executive Vice President of Education Dr. Holoua Stender and others take part in some early morning Zumba dancing to kick off of last year’s event.


The Ed Tech Conference themed “Hana Pono” is slated for June 8-10 at the Neal Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall. It is open to all educators.


This year's keynote speaker is Stephen Ritz, a South Bronx educator who was a finalist for the Global Teacher Prize.
