Nā Mele Mana‘o‘i‘o

Songs of Faith

The Kamehameha Schools Kapālama worship team worked with HI*Sessions during their 2019 spring break to create special music videos to honor the deep Christian faith of KS founder Ke Aliʻi Bernice Pauahi Bishop. We offer these mele to uplift our haumāna, mākua, kumu and other members of the KS ʻohana and to assure you that God’s divine light is shining upon you – even during the darkest of times.

Doxology / Reckless Love

The doxology is the seed of Christianity planted in all of us through Princess Pauahi. “Reckless Love,” by Cory Asbury, declares how much Ke Akua loves us and how He will go through any length to keep us close to Him.

Ua Pono Ka inoa Maika‘i / What a Beautiful Name

“Ua Pono ka Inoa Maikaʻi” or “There’s Something About That Name,” written by William Gaither and translated from English to Hawaiian by Kahu David Kaupu, declares that there is something enduring about the name Jesus. “What a beautiful name,” by Brooke Ligertwood and Ben Fielding, reminds us to lift up the name of Jesus above all else.

Ka ‘Uhane

“Ka ʻUhane” (The Spirit), composed by KS Kapālama High School worship team leader Rodney Arias, gives thanks to God for the ʻāina of Hawai‘i. Its chorus declares for the ʻuhane of Ke Akua to come down and rest.
