Saying ‘Gratitude without measure’ in ‘ōlelo Hawai‘i

February 24, 2021

In honor of Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language Month) KS Kapālama high schoolers Makana Faulkner and Kahiʻilani Attwood teach us the phrase “Mahalo palena ‘ole” (Gratitude without measure) in this video entitled, ʻŌlelokīkēkē o ka Lā (Phrase of the Day). This and other videos were part of Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi activities coordinated by Midkiff Learning Center librarians Laʻakea Cumberlander and Ku‘ulei Reyes with generous kōkua from Kumu ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i Kahanu Solatorio and Video Production Kumu Leah Kihara. Hats off to nā kumu a me nā haumāna involved in this video project which supports KS’ efforts to normalize ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi so our native language can live on.
