Hale Huliāmahi — Where kūpuna knowledge becomes ‘Ōpio learning

December 3, 2020

In an intimate ceremony last week, haumāna, kumu, mākua, alumni, community practitioners and campus leaders gathered for a special blessing to mark the completion of a new hale located in Waonahele, nestled between ‘Ālewa and Kapālama. Hale Huliāmahi is the result of many months of discussion, pule, planning, and traditional construction to create an outdoor learning space where kumu and haumāna can explore the ʻike of our kūpuna within the context of our ʻāina. KS Kahu ‘Ike Hawai‘i Lono ‘Ikuwā, Master Builder ʻAnakala Palani Sinenci and others share their mana‘o on the significance of the structure.
