Windward Mall, along with Storybook Hawaii, was pleased to present U.S.VETS Hawaii with a donation of $1,020 presented on July 28, 2021. The Storybook Hawaii Crew for the Red, White, and Blue event, which was held on Saturday, July 3 at Windward Mall’s Center Court, successfully surpassed their fundraising goal of $1,000. Donations were contributed by those in attendance at the event and will support U.S.VETS Hawaii with housing and financial support for veterans in need.
“Mahalo to the community for their support helping to raise funds for U.S.VETS Hawaii,” said Gary Evora, Kamehameha Schools commercial real estate senior asset manager. “We honor and thank all veterans for their sacrifice and service.”
The Storybook Hawaii Crew for the Red White & Blue event gave keiki the opportunity to take photos safely and social distanced with classic superheroes like America’s Captain, Woman of Wonder, Iron Superhero, and Superhero Man. The Storybook Hawai‘i superheroes encouraged keiki to write uplifting messages of appreciation and hope to the men and women who courageously serve our country. All messages were delivered to service men and women overseas. For each message written on a foam heart, $1 was donated to U.S.VETS, up to $1,000.
“Windward Mall is proud to support U.S.VETS Hawaii and give back to the courageous men and women who served our country and sacrificed so much for our freedom,” said Cesar Topacio, vice-president senior general manager of Windward Mall.
