Our Kakaʻako, Kamehameha Schools to Host Free Virtual Workshop for Aspiring Entrepreneurs, Students

Our Kaka‘ako and Kamehameha Schools will host a free virtual workshop for current and aspiring Hawai‘i entrepreneurs. The Kūlia Entrepreneur Virtual Workshop will be held as a live Zoom event on Tuesday, August 31 from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. Our Kaka‘ako commercial tenant Stuart Kam, KSK’06, owner and founder, ATH Sport, will share his entrepreneurial story, advice on building a brand, and talk about how his sports nutrition company continues to grow and navigate through the pandemic. Kam will also take attendees on a virtual tour of his Cooke Street shop. Moderator Kirstin Kahaloa, KSK’01, Portfolio Manager of Sustainable Industry Development, Kamehameha Schools will interview Kam, guide the conversation, and share questions from the audience.

About Stuart Kam, Owner and Founder, ATH Sport
Kam started ATH Sport in 2012 after returning home from college. As an athlete with a passion for jiu jitsu, surfing and lifting weights, he was searching for a tasty, all-natural sports supplement drink aimed at endurance-style athletes like himself. However, he couldn’t find one that met his expectations, so he decided to make it himself. At first, he had no intention of starting a business. He ordered 50 pound bags of raw ingredients and mixed the first batch in his kitchen. To help pay for it, he took it to the gym to see if anyone was interested. His training partners literally ate it up, and the rest is history. Since then, ATH, which is located on Cooke Street in Our Kaka‘ako, has grown across the country shipping through three fulfillment centers on the continental U.S. that handle orders from athletes seeking supplements made with real ingredients from a brand they can trust.
About Virtual Workshop Moderator Kirstin Kahaloa
Kahaloa is an experienced portfolio manager with Kamehameha Schools and her background in higher education and collaborative community engagement with a focus on uplifting Native Hawaiian leadership and entrepreneurism will set the tone for this dynamic workshop. Kahaloa works in Kona on Hawai‘i Island and also serves as president of the Hawai‘i Island Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce. She was born and raised on O‘ahu and is an alumna of Kamehameha Schools.
