Public Invited to Volunteer for Nov. 13th Mālama ʻĀina Community Clean Up Sponsored by Our Kakaʻako, Waterfront Plaza, and Surfrider Foundation

The season of giving is getting an early start as Our Kakaʻako, Waterfront Plaza and Surfrider Foundation invite people of all ages to volunteer for the free Mālama ʻĀina Community Clean Up at the nine neighborhood blocks of Our Kaka‘ako as well as Mother Waldron Park, on Saturday, November 13, from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Participants will be required to pre-register on the event webpage, and, on the day of the event, show their photo ID and proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to participate. The number of volunteers will be limited to 200, and no walk-ins will be accepted. Participants are asked to bring their own water in a reusable bottle, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and shades or protective eyewear, and wear a mask and social distance. At the end of the clean up, as a mahalo for participating, grab n’ go snack bags with earth-friendly swag will be given to the volunteers. See story »

Windward Mall Hosts Wicked Fun for Everyone Event

Windward Mall is excited to welcome keiki to meet and take photos with evil villains from Storybook Hawai‘i at the Wicked Fun for Everyone event on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 4 to 7 p.m.! Keiki are invited to dress up in costume, wear a face mask and bring a camera for a wicked fun time. Once registered for a specific timeslot, the whole ‘ohana can meet characters throughout the first and second floor of Windward Mall. Each evil villain will have their own platform, including floor decals to allow for social distancing during photo opportunities. Characters will wear a face mask or clear face shield, use hand sanitizer and maintain social distancing at all times. See story »

Master Ghost Storyteller Lopaka Kapanui to Share Spooky Tales During Our Kakaʻako “Happy Kakaʻakoween” Virtual Event

Famed master storyteller Lopaka Kapanui of Mysteries of Hawai‘i is the featured speaker at Our Kakaʻako’s next complimentary virtual event “Happy Kakaʻakoween,” scheduled for Sunday, October 24, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sharing chilling ghost stories about the Kakaʻako and surrounding area, Kapanui brings his moʻolelo (stories) to Zoom, giving audiences a supernatural experience from the comfort of their own home. Keiki, pets and their humans can jump into their costumes for a fun and safe trick-or-treat experience at SALT at Our Kaka‘ako. Dress up and get candy and treats from participating SALT tenants on Halloween, Sunday, October 31, 2021, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Look for the trick-or-treat signs in front of businesses. Our Kakaʻako and Kamehameha Schools will host a free virtual workshop for current and aspiring Hawaiʻi entrepreneurs. The Kūlia Entrepreneur Virtual Workshop will be held as a live Zoom event on Tuesday, August 31 from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. Our Kakaʻako commercial tenant Stuart Kam, KSK’06, owner and founder, ATH Sport, will share his entrepreneurial story, advice on building a brand, and talk about how his sports nutrition company continues to grow and navigate through the pandemic. Kam will also take attendees on a virtual tour of his Cooke Street shop. Windward Mall, along with Storybook Hawaii, was pleased to present U.S.VETS Hawaii with a donation of $1,020 presented on July 28, 2021. The Storybook Hawaii Crew for the Red, White, and Blue event, which was held on Saturday, July 3 at Windward Mall’s Center Court, successfully surpassed their fundraising goal of $1,000. Donations were contributed by those in attendance at the event and will support U.S.VETS Hawaii with housing and financial support for veterans in need. See story »

Windward Mall was recently recognized at the 2021 International Innovating Commerce Serving Communities (ICSC) MAXI and Visual Victories Award presentation with several awards.
