2017 KS Kapālama Ho‘olaule‘a

Overcast skies and chilly weather couldn’t stop thousands of KS supporters from attending this year’s Kamehameha Schools Kapālama Ho‘olaule‘a! The day was filled with fabulous entertainment, ‘ono grinds, cultural demonstrations, fun rides and games for the keiki. The annual event is sponsored by the KS Association of Teachers and Parents and valuable support is provided by the KS Parent/Alumni Relations Department. The funds raised by Ho‘olaule‘a support student enrichment grants which pay for activities such as student travel and supplies for student clubs. Mahalo to the thousands of volunteers who worked at Ho‘olaule‘a this year. This is the only activity that brings together the entire Kapālama campus ‘ohana from the K-12 students, families, staff, alumni and members of the community.

Thousands turned out on a chilly day for the 92nd Kamehameha Schools Ho‘olaule‘a.




The ohana held hands as Kahu Kordell Kekoa opened the event with a pule.




The high school male hula dancers displayed athletic movements.




While the women hula dancers performed in graceful unison.




The Concert Glee Club impressed with their mature voices.




The high school Jazz Band brought the big band sound to Kōnia Field.




The KSK Elementary School Children’s Chorus was one of the most popular groups of the day.




Audience members of all ages enjoyed the entertainment.




Band dads cooked malasadas for the hungry crowd.




The Hawai‘i island booth featured fresh flowers.




Fried akule was served at the Moloka‘i booth.




A customer bought a beautiful haku lei for the day.




The Plant Shoppe was the place to find something for the backyard.




Fun rides and games occupied the keiki’s day.




Silent auction bidders had a lot of choices.




Cultural displays and activities were also on hand.
