Snow Day at Our Kaka‘ako

Kamehameha Schools held its first-ever "Snow Day at Our Kaka‘ako" event on Sunday December 3, and it was a huge success! With the help of State and community organizations, Kamehameha Schools spread our message of the importance of early childhood education, and provided valuable information about our many programs to an estimated 3,000 participants, including about 800 keiki. Keiki enjoyed playing in ten tons of snow and other fun activities at on the grounds of The Flats at Pu‘unui apartment complex in Kaka‘ako.

Families started lining up early to play on the snow at KS' first-ever "Snow Day at Our Kaka‘ako" event at The Flats at Pu‘unui.




Ten tons of ice was converted into snow and spread across the plaza.




The winter wonderland provided a great background for family photos.




An estimated 3000 participants attended the event.




Daviann Kunishige from Kamehemeha Publishing was on site to provide keiki with coloring pages and families with information about their products and services.




Partners in Development Foundation provided educational hands-on activities for keiki.




Keiki created their own canoes with the help of parents.




Canoe sea worthiness was tested on a mini ocean.




Keiki had opportunities for fun beyond just playing in the snow.
