KS Kapālama Elementary School holds first college and career carnival

Kamehameha Schools Kapālama Elementary School held its first college and career fair on March 15 at Ke‘eaumoku Gym. The fair was a chance for keiki to learn about different career pathways and educational opportunities that may spark their interest, in hopes that the exposure to various possibilities for their future will instill the drive for higher education and career goals at an early age.

The different stations represented included the Army, Hawai‘i News Now, Hawaiian Airlines, the Honolulu Fire Department, the Honolulu Police Department, HPD Scientific Investigation Section, Kaiser Permanente, Manuheali‘i, the Polynesian Voyaging Society, VCA University Animal Hospitals and the University of Hawai‘i Athletics Department.

Presenters representing 11 different organizations showed up for the KSK elementary college and career carnival.




Students were able to learn from firefighters, who made their presence known with their big yellow truck.




Hawai‘i News Now's Jennifer Robbins and Ryan Lam, a KSK graduate, shared about broadcast journalism.




Students even got the opportunity to test their abilities as a news reporter.




The VCA University Animal Hospital had information about veterinary occupations.




Students went around and took notes about the careers they were interested in.




Representatives from Manuheali‘i gave students a look into the fashion industry.




Kaiser Permanente had a table to share some information about the medical field.
