Kamehameha Schools Kapālama staffers and students recently hosted a gathering to welcome Te Korero Maori Cultural Group from Rarotonga, Cook Islands to the campus. The event took place at the Kaʻiwakīloumoku Hawaiian Cultural Center.
This Polynesian performing group presented a dynamic and enjoyable array of dances and songs from their island home. Also featured was the unique art form of Cook Islands drumming using traditional paʻu (drums) and tokere (wooden slit drum). This was the first Cook Islands performing group to visit KS Kapālama in over 20 years.
Mahalo to KS photographer Michael Young for capturing highlights of the event.
