2019 Hawai‘i Island Service Awards

The KS Hawai‘i Island ‘ohana gathered to honor 58 of its faculty and staff members celebrating up to 25 years of service to Pauahi’s legacy! The island’s Service Award day included lunch and some long-awaited launa!

Fifteen-year honorees Hawaiian Language Kumu Mele Spencer and Po‘o Kula Kāhealani Naeʻole-Wong congratulate each other on reaching their Service Award milestones.




Before the Service Award luncheon, honorees from KS Hawaiʻi and Hawaiʻi Island Community Engagement and Resources divisions gather at the KS Hawaiʻi Kekuʻiapoiwa Learning Center for a special reception to launa and celebrate the special day with one another.

The largest group of honorees this year celebrated 15 years of service.




The Hawaiʻi Island employee ʻohana comes together in one voice chanting the KS oli, “Puka Mai ka Lā.”




Campus Cook Jade Maikai honors Nā Mea Hanohano Kūikawa (milestone honoree) Sonny Lapenia – Food Services manager – as he celebrates 25 years of service to Pauahi’s legacy.
