Ka ‘Ikena Takes First Place in the ‘Ōlelo Youth Xchange Video Contest
Hoʻomaikaʻi to Ka 'Ikena Productions in taking 1st place in the ‘Ōlelo Youth Xchange Video Contest - Mini Documentary category for middle school. Kadence Merritt and Kamalei Pahukulaʻs mini-documentary entitled, “Love Yourself” was the winning video in this statewide contest. Kumu Siarot and Kumu C. Nishimistu continue to motivate our haumāna to achieve greatness. Amazing work from all who participate.

Kula Waena Art Class Goes Virtual
Haumāna from Kumu April Jone's art class created a virtual art gallery to showcase their work. Haumāna used what they could find around their homes to recreate pieces of famous art. The end product is an amazing interactive presentation in Google Slides which allows the user to navigate through a virtual art gallery and click on artwork to bring up more information. KS Maui Kula Waena Students Win Honorable Mention STN Nationals
Kailea Tuitele and Cienna Kalehuawehe submitted and video titled "Her Choice", a short video depicting the struggles of a young person with a vaping habit. The video earned Honorable Mention in the Creative Segment. Hoʻomaikaʻi Students!
Kailea Tuitele will host PBS Hiki No broadcast on COVID 19. It airs Thursday, May 15 @ 7:30 on PBS. Check out our haunāna in action.

Celebrating Earth Day Through Education
Haumāna from Kamehameha Schools Maui Kula Waena celebrated Earth Day 2020 by creating a website (Maukoli) dedicated to educating people of how we affect our ‘Āina and steps we can take to help our Earth Thrive.
Students were asked to present projects which answered 3 questions. How do we holo IMUA through adversity? How do humans IMPACT our world? How can we INFLUENCE others to make an impact on global crises? Our haumāna put in a Warrior level of effort and it paid off with a beautiful website which they should be proud of.
