Aloha, my name is Mark Vaught and I’m currently the Head Softball Coach here at Kamehameha Schools Maui. I’m going on my third year as the head coach and served as an assistant coach the year prior to being named as the Head.
I’ve been coaching sports for 19 years, from youth leagues all the way up to high school varsity. I’ve coached sports such as varsity football (11 years), varsity basketball (7 years), varsity track (3 years), varsity softball (3 years) and youth softball (15 years). I’ve also spent time (8 years) as a high school basketball official.
I have a passion for coaching because I love working with kids and trying to find ways to motivate and guide them. It’s a great way to assist both parents and teachers in their quest to create better, more prepared and respectful adults.
I feel that it’s an honor and a privilege to be able to coach youth sports because raising our young athletes to be responsible adults who will contribute to the overall success of their communities is a great way to ensure that Maui will continue to be NO KA OI.
