Michael Imanaka

Planning and Development Manager I

Michael Imanaka assists with the management, strategic planning and financial analysis for development projects in Kakaʻako, Hawai‘i Kai, Kāhala, and Waiawa.

Prior to joining Kamehameha Schools in 2019, Michael led feasibility studies and project management as a director of development for Honolulu-based firm Avalon Development. His project work includes Kapolei Business Park, 7000 Hawai‘i Kai Drive and Sky Ala Moana. He also assisted in the management of commercial real estate sales and leasing activities for Avalon’s brokerage, Avalon’s brokerage operation, Avalon Commercial LLC.

With over seven years of industry experience, Michael’s work history also includes stints with Nordic PCL as a project engineer and Northgate Commercial as an analyst.

Michael is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), and a Licensed Hawai‘i Real Estate Broker. He is also a member of the Urban Land Institute and National Association for Industrial and Office Parks and serves as a Board Member for both the CCIM Hawaii Chapter and the Stadium Authority.

A graduate of ‘Iolani School, Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif.

In his spare time, Michael stays active by playing tennis, golf, surfing and traveling. He also enjoys eating a variety of ethnic dishes based on the time of the year.
