Planning and Development Manager I
Daniel Hughes provides project management, strategic planning and financial analysis support for Kamehameha Schools’ development projects in Kaʻōnohi kai, Kāhala, and Mōʻiliʻili.
Prior to joining KS, Daniel served as a Consultant and Construction Manager at the Honolulu office of Allana Buick & Bers, where he led the design, bidding, permitting, contract negotiations, and construction management of over $20 million in construction projects. Daniel also conducted forensic investigations on a variety of construction defects, including water intrusion, spalling, mechanical failures, groundwater upwelling, foundation repairs, and seawall construction. His work history also includes time with Kelikai, Inc. as a project manager and Barker Kappelle Construction, LLC as a project coordinator.
Daniel earned his bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Santa Barbara, while also studying Marketing and Australian Literature at the University of Sydney, Australia. He also has a Master of Business Administration in International Business from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
A former member of the UC Santa Barbara Men’s Volleyball team, Daniel has over 20 years’ coaching experience – from youth to College – in California and Hawaiʻi. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, golf, sailing, and beach days with the family.
