Exploring crystals at the Chemistry Fair!

High School Chemistry Fair, Animal Superpowers and the Midnight Zone!

Feb. 27, 2019

Contributed by Tiare Sanchez

Second grade just attended the High School Chemistry Fair. The students reviewed the three states of matter. Thanks to the high school students they got to make milk plastic, explore various crystals, launch bottle boats, wrote in invisible ink and made and ate coconut whip cream!

First grade has been learning about animal adaptations. They have learned animals appear to have superpowers. They worked in pairs to make an animal superhero suit, combining different animal parts to complete one of three missions: underground hideout, sky surveillance or an underwater mission. They presented their suits last week!

Kindergarten is working on completing a submarine, so they can explore the midnight zone of the ocean. They have been working in pairs to make deep sea creatures and have learned the special things their creature uses to catch prey. They have also been reading, Magic School Bus, On the Ocean Floor.
