2019 Robotics & Technology Showcase

Nov. 13, 2019

Contributed by Dutch Tanaka-Akana

The first annual Technology and Robotics Showcase had our haumāna talking with the public about the technology they use in club activities and the robots they built. Team 'Ōpe'ape'a spoke with people about our endangered species and let people listen to the recordings captured using a detector which allows our students to detect and record the bats. The robotics team showed off their competition robots and let spectators operate the robots they designed and built. Haumāna had fun giving candy away to people using a robot that was built for Truck or Treat held last month on campus in celebration of Halloween. Finally, the robotics team showed off the new platform we will be using for the 2nd semester which is an Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle which needs to be designed and built by our students for Underwater ROV competitions we will be starting next school year in 2021.

Attendees were impressed with our haumāna, commenting on how far education has come and how wonderful it was to see such young keiki doing things they themselves would not dream of doing. Great job everyone! Mahalo to all who came out in support.
