October 24, 2019, haumāna spent the day learning how to solve complex challenges using the Design Thinking Method. This year haumāna from various Maui County schools were challenged in thinking of various ways to solve Bullying. Haumana were assigned groups which included others from different schools and taken through the five steps of Design Thinking:

Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test.

In the end, all humāna presented great ideas on how to help solve a very complex challenge. Some of these included using Artificial Intelligence to create a support buddy and a motivational ticket dispenser which allowed positivity to be shared with others. This experience was a great lesson in tackling complex challenges and all the students had a great time.
