Have you ever had one of those days where your schedule seems to be upended by little things that just seemed to happen at the worst time? Take for instance today, of all days when I am almost done working through my schedule and there was just one more usually simple task to accomplish. Yep, you guessed it, TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES!
Here I am perfectly set up to create videos, a task that I have been doing all last year. I have a decent video recorder, a sturdy tripod, teleprompter hardware, and a teleprompter app on my iPad. I did a few things to set up the background, positioned a few furniture pieces, used a drape to hide the mess in my office had everything loaded ready to record. That’s when the adventure really started.
The teleprompter would not connect with my Bluetooth remote controller. It normally takes less than a minute to sync. Today, 15 minutes! Ughh! Then, I get to my set and check to make sure that the size of the font and the speed of the words going across the teleprompter is good. The font size is good, the speed is okay, but the teleprompter is now stopping and starting with me prompting it. In other words, it would stop in the middle of a sentence for a couple of seconds then start again.
At first, I was just a little perturbed, but after 40 minutes of shutting down programs on the iPad, and restarting it several times, I was at my wit’s end. What should have taken me no less than fifteen minutes was now taking hours. Finally, as the teleprompter began glitching repeatedly, I stopped and laid back on my chair, and decided to pray. What occurred next reminded me of how silly it is to get frustrated over things that are not in my control.
I began to talk with God going over my situation when suddenly an overwhelming sense of peace took over my mind. God was telling me to just sit and listen, don’t talk, don’t think, just rest, just be still, and know that the mess that is currently distracting me will pass.
God’s word for us today points to the truth that when we are hectically trying too hard to make something happen that sometimes it is better to sit and be quiet and let God’s wisdom and peace take over. Thus, I will make a few adjustments to the equipment, double-check the iPad and take care of the technical difficulties that I was experiencing and move forward.
