Akā, e ʻoli aku au i kou mana: ʻO ia hoʻi, e hīmeni leo nui aku au i kou aloha i ke kakahiaka; No ka mea, he wahi malu aʻe nei ʻoe noʻu, He puʻuhonua i koʻu lā i pōpilikia ai. He manaʻo o ke kahu
Do you have a pattern in the morning- such as crawl/fall out of bed, stumble into the bathroom to brush your teeth and jump in the shower? My pattern is to turn on the TV to hear the morning news, brush my teeth, send out the daily devotional, pack my coffee and water, prep my lunch, and jump in the shower. In my stupor, I may gaze out the front east-facing window and see the beauty of a new day.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed that as your morning goes, so does your day? Give your day a great start by beginning with the right focus. Include in your pattern, a time of prayer. Give it to ke Akua. Pray for his guidance for what is to come, that his will be done. Denzel Washington shared his thought about his morning routine. He’ll climb out of bed and put his house slippers. The only thing is that the night before, he pushed his slippers under the bed so in order to reach them, he has to get down on his knees. And he figures that since he’s down there, he might as well as spend some time in prayer.
Once I’m in my office, I’ll check my emails. I subscribe to several daily devotionals which serves as a Bible study for me. It’s interesting that sometimes a similar thought might run through a number of the devotionals. As only God can do, at least one will speak to what is going on in my life. Let God’s word speak to you through his word and the voice of others. Nā Kahu truly appreciate it when readers share how these devotionals speak to you. As your day goes on, find refuge in God who shows you his favor. His presence is a comfort and an assurance that he will never leave us nor forsake. So, remember, as you begin your day, set a pattern of preparedness, that you may be grounded in ke Akua.
