I kinohi ka Logou, me ke Akua ka Logou, a ʻo ke Akua nō ka Logou. Me ke Akua nō hoʻi ia i kinohi. Hana ʻia ihola nā mea a pau e ia; ʻaʻole kekahi mea i hana ʻia i hana ʻole ʻia e ia. – Ioane 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him, nothing was made that has been made. – John 1:1-3
He manaʻo o ke kahu
Our Bible study group has been diving through the first book in the Baibala Hemolele (Holy Bible), Kinohi or Genesis. In verse two of chapter one, God is revealed in a plural form of the Hebrew word, “Elohim” and sets us on a course of discovering the fullness of God in all creation. The Hebrew El stands for God, and in the Bible, we see El Elyon, or God, Most High; El Roi or God who sees; El Shaddai or God Almighty, and Elohim, God the Creator.
John the Apostle and one of the core leaders who traveled with Jesus during his ministry lays the foundation of our faith with the very first verse, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”
Being our creator means God was always existing and the Word is God’s breath of life that gives us the truth about our faith in Jesus, forgiveness, redemption, and our salvation.
Ka ʻŌlelo Noʻeau #2469 – “O ke kahua mamua, mahope ke kūkulu” – “First the foundation, then begin to build,” reminds us, first things first.
In the fullness of our God, the Protestant faith trusts in the knowledge of the Triune God, Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit or Ka Makua, Ke Keiki a me Ka ʻUhane Hemolele. All three exist at the same time, all three in one God. As the gospel is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, our Savior is the foundation. Believe in Christ and begin to build upon your faith with The Word!
