SMITE team advances in HHSAA playoffs

Hoʻomaikaʻi to our Lono Blue SMITE team for winning their first round matchup in the HHSAA Fall Season Playoffs to move on to the semifinals!

Team members are senior Elijah Scovel, juniors Chadwick Guerrero, Dylan Rosehill, Lehua Yoshida, and freshman Rion Chong. The e-sports program is coordinated and coached by electronic media arts kumu Nader Shehata and coach Auliʻi Nahulu.

In addition to the favorable outcome, they played a good game, communicating well with each other and and getting a minimum 20+ elimination difference for each of their games and showcasing great sportsmanship as well.

"When one of our opponents got disconnected, Elijah Scovel was fast to respond and paused the game so they may resolve their technical issues," described coach Shehata.

"Mahalo to Coach Auliʻi for her great insight on game strategy, guidance and encouragement!"

This is the official first season of Hawaii High School Athletic Association E-Sports. Last year's pilot season was dubbed Season Zero, where our team made it to a national SMITE tournament. The hope is that their success will continue throughout this year. Final playoffs will happen soon. Good luck Warriors! I Mua Kamehameha!
