With the COVID-19 emergency continuing to evolve, Kamehameha Schools remains focused on protecting the health of our students, families, staff and broader community. KS acknowledges the special role school ‘ohana will play the longer their keiki are learning at home.

Accordingly, distance learning and educational support programs are beginning on Friday, March 27, at KS Hawaiʻi, and on Monday, March 30, at KS Maui and at KS’ 29 preschools. KS Kapālama is still on spring break and will begin its Distance Learning Program as students and staff return to work on Monday, April 6. When KS’ Distance Learning Programs are in effect, there will be no on-campus student instruction or student activities.

KS is appreciative of the tremendous efforts and flexibility demonstrated by our teachers and staff to adapt to this new remote work environment. With all campuses and office facilities closed, KS will use technology to connect teachers with students and continue its business operations. More than 200 training sessions were conducted for teachers to receive insight into the use of online platforms to conduct video conferences and interactive live learning opportunities. In addition, approximately 300 leaders from across the organization participated in online webinars to receive training in managing employees who work remotely.

KS will continue to monitor developments and will provide regular updates as it considers conditions in the community along with guidance from health officials and government leaders.
