Spotlight - Book 3 of the Kana'iaupuni Series
Blazing Stars and Shark Eyes is the third book in a 12-book series for young readers about the life of Kamehameha. It follows Lumpy Poi and Twisting Eels in the Kana'iaupuni Series. The series is written by David Kawika Eyre and illustrated by Native Hawaiian artist Imaikalani Kalahele.
Based on Hawaiian sources and years of research, the story sheds new light on the people and places that nurtured Kamehameha in his early years. As a work of historical fiction, Blazing Stars and Shark Eyes depicts the relationship of Kamehameha and Kekūhaupi'o, the fierce warrior chief from Ke'ei. The book sets the stage for Kamehameha’s lifelong quest to unify the Hawaiian Islands.
