Pauahi Publications: More about Pauahi Publications

Resources for Hawaiian Education
Critical shortages and rapid program expansion drive the need for quality educational resources in the Hawaiian community including research, curriculum, and trade books used as references. Needs in these areas are evidenced by growth in topic-area book sales, expansion of Hawaiian-specific education efforts such as charter schools, immersion schools, and university departments, and the continued growth of the Hawaiian population.

Two types of teaching materials are in especially short supply: cultural materials focusing on ‘Ike Hawai‘i written in English and materials developed and delivered in Hawaiian for Hawaiian medium educational programs.

Collaborative Partnerships
Pauahi Publications is actively partnering with several KS departments and external organizations and individuals to plan upcoming projects. By building on existing infrastructure and output activities at KS including the Digital Document Center, Pauahi Publications can respond to community needs and then develop and rapidly disseminate print and digital publications. Products will be made available at no (or minimal) cost to the educational community and the public.
