We’ve strived to build a culture of safety throughout our entire organization and to ensure that our students, families, faculty and staff feel empowered to bring issues or concerns to our attention. The effort and investment we are making are intended to help ensure we can take action quickly and provide support for those in need, for healing to begin.
Here are details about what KS is doing right now:
- Hiʻikua Helpline, which is managed by a third-party entity, serves as a resource for students and families that provides a venue for anonymous reporting. This online resource has been rolled out to all KS campuses.
- Information on crisis resources compiled and made available for students and families via the Mālama Ola website.
- University of Hawai‘i Department of Psychiatry contracted to serve as a resource in strictly controlled conditions.
- Planning to offer tele-psychiatry — video conference sessions between contracted psychiatrists and KS students on a neighbor island campus with an outreach counselor present.
