The magazine
I Mua is a quarterly publication of the Kamehameha Schools Community Relations & Communications Division. Ann Botticelli serves as vice president of CRC, and Kekoa Paulsen ’77 serves as director of CRC. Ed Kalama ’76 is the editor of I Mua. The magazine offers feature articles, photo essays, news briefs, class news, alumni milestones and the latest news from the Kamehameha Schools regional alumni associations.

I Mua exists to inform alumni, parents, students and friends of Kamehameha Schools of current educational and endowment programs, to generate interest in and support for those programs, and to help alumni maintain close ties to the institution and to each other.

The word
In the Hawaiian language, the word I Mua means “to move forward” or “to move ahead” toward a goal. I Mua is also used to signify loyalty to all things Kamehameha or to express a deep commitment to support a feeling, an idea, a person or a cause.

I Mua is additionally used as the “team yell” for Kamehameha athletic teams. I Mua is Kamehameha’s way of saying “go for it,” or “go for broke!”
