Photo: Early reading screenings give parents information on each keiki's strengths and areas that can be improved, along with information on finding resources on the Wai‘anae Coast to assist their development.
The Community Learning Center at Nānākuli will continue to offer early reading screening service. The program is offered in collaboration with Assets School, and is open to Wai‘anae Coast families with primary aged students (kindergarten through 3rd grade). The screening session lasts around an hour and includes individualized feedback with parents.
The screening allows parents to discover their child's reading strengths and areas of concern to be proactive in seeking assistance and finding resources in the areas where their child may need more support. In a very short amount of time parents will get immediate feedback and specific recommendations.
Screenings will take place, by appointment, between 1 to 4 p.m. at the Kamehameha Schools Community Learning Center at Nānākuli. To schedule an appointment, contact Christy Sato at 534-8244 or by e-mail at chsato@ksbe.edu.
