A friendly reminder that if you have a child applying to grades K-12 at any Kamehameha Schools campus for the 2010-2011 school year, the deadline to submit applications is WEDNESDAY, September 30th. If you haven’t already done so, please complete and send in your child’s application right away!

Kamehameha Schools will deepen its reach in the Windward region with a new preschool that will serve more than 100 children from the Kāne `ohe and Kahalu`u communities. A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the future site of “Kamehameha Preschool at He`eia” Monday. The Preschool is named after the ahupua`a in which it resides and is slated to open in Fall 2010.

Kamehameha Schools is now accepting applications for admission to its three campuses for the 2010-2011 school year. If you know a student who could flourish at one of our campuses, please encourage that student and his or her `ohana to call for an application. The application deadline is September 30, 2009.
Glennie Adams, a former All-American volleyball star for the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo and all-star athlete at Kamehameha Schools, has returned to her alma mater as associate athletic director for the Kapālama Campus.

Please join in supporting Kamehameha Kapālama’s football and scholarship programs by attending the alumni night football game on Friday, August 14.

This afternoon, Hawai‘i Probate Judge Colleen Hirai named Micah A. Kane (KS ’87) to a five-year term as Trustee of Kamehameha Schools, effective September 1, replacing Trustee Robert Kihune. Trustee-elect Kane is currently the Director of the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands.
HONOLULU - A group of 24 Kamehameha Schools students are traveling to Tennessee next week to participate in the 39th Mu Alpha Theta National Convention, where they will challenge some of the nation’s talented and brightest young mathematicians.
Kamehameha Schools Distance Learning instructor Kelly Cua, in partnership with instructional designer Christy Sato, won the prestigious Blackboard Exemplary Course Award, which recognizes excellence in online teaching and development.

The 2008 Kamehameha Schools Song Contest earned the best “Musical Video/DVD” award at the 32nd annual Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards presentation last Tuesday night.
