9th Circuit Rehearing
In August of last year, 2
judges out of a 3 judge panel on the 9th circuit court of appeals
struck down Kamehameha Schools 120 year old policy of granting an
admissions preference to students of native Hawaiian ancestry.
Kamehameha Schools petitioned for a hearing by the entire 9th circuit
court, and, on February 22nd, was given a rare, favorable decision. |

Admiral Kihune Chairman of the Board
It has been
nearly 7 years since retired Naval admiral Robert Kihune was first
named a Kamehameha Schools trustee. Today he is filling his second
and final 5- year term as a permanent trustee. The Kamehameha
Schools graduate has grown into his job well. |

Nohona Hawaii
The term Nohona Hawaii refers to a
living Hawaiian culture, a Hawaiian way of life. At Kamehameha
Schools, we interpret Nohona Hawaii to mean those important cultural
contexts of people, social networks, as well as relationships that
people have with the environment, with the land.

Post High Fiancial Aid
Kamehameha Schools recognizes
that, for many, educational careers extend beyond high school, with
tuition and costs that are becoming increasingly more expensive.
Kamehameha s Financial Aid and Scholarship Services are offering
innovative post-high school scholarships, like Hana Lima: a
vocational/technical scholarship for students entering select limited
term certificate programs. |
