Kamehameha's Kapalama Campus: A Mini-City
High
above the city of Honolulu, the Kapalama Campus of Kamehameha
Schools sits on more than 600 beautiful and hilly acres.
Several thousand students from preschool to high school
come here each weekday.
The
campus is like a small town, with over 550 students
and 53 families living on campus. Services like garbage
pick up, lunch for 3,300 people, and water are provided
each day. Kamehameha is the only school in the state
of Hawaii that owns and operates its own fleet of buses.
Hale Ola, a full-service dispensary, cares for both
boarders and day students. All of the construction trades
are represented on staff, including welders, electricians,
and carpenters. And Kunuiakea, the new athletic field,
will soon be open.
