Policy Update
IMUA TV speaks to community and business leaders who support Kamehameha
Schools’ admissions policy. These include Governor Linda Lingle;
Walter Dods, chairman and CEO of First Hawaiian Bank; Colbert Matsumoto,
chairman of Island Insurance; Robert Witt, executive director of the
Hawai‘i Association of Independent Schools; and Amy Agbayani,
president of the Filipino Community Center. Pat Hamamoto, State Superintendent
of Education, also speaks about the win-win collaboration the State
has with KS. |

Laptop Program Gives a Boost to Maui Campus High School Students
The ninth and tenth graders at the Maui Campus receive a new learning
tool. Assigned to every student, these laptop computers will stay
with the students until they graduate, giving them access to technology
that will enhance their learning. |

Visit to Kawailoa
KS is perhaps the largest landowner of O‘ahu’s North
Shore, owning 25,000 acres of land, with 15 acres in Hale‘iwa
Town. Meet some of the businesses in this community and learn how
KS is taking an active role to rejuvenate the business area while
maintaining the town’s small town feel. |

Camp
Ku Mauna
Earlier this school year, incoming Kapalama Campus freshmen got some
help in making the transition to high school by attending Camp Ku
Mauna. They participated in a variety of challenging, motivating,
team-building activities to learn about themselves and each other
at the same time. |

Meet
Winona Desha Beamer
She is an educator, cultural expert, composer and lifetime advocate
of KS, but all Winona Desha Beamer wanted to do was “to be the
best Hawaiian I could be.” Here, she speaks about her experiences
at Kamehameha Schools as a student, as an educator and as an advocate. |
