Admissions Lawsuit

Kamehameha's admissions policy is under attack. While Kamehameha was preparing to defend its policy against a lawsuit filed early this summer, judge David Ezra forced KS to admit Brayden Mohica-Cummings in a separate case. In a news conference on August 20, trustee Nainoa Thompson gave an impassioned speech on the core issue: social justice for Hawaiians. Click the link to see his complete address.
Culinary Institute

The Culinary Arts course gives 24 Hawaiian high school students who are seriously considering pursuing a career in the culinary arts industry "hands on" introductory experience, including sanitation and food prep safety. This course is offered in partnership with Kapi'olani Community College.

Ho'olauna Keauhou

Ho'olauna Keauhou is a week-long boarding experience open to Hawai'i Island non-KS students who will be completing grade 6 by June 2003. Ho'olauna is the Hawaiian word "to introduce." In our efforts to get to know our immediate environment we introduce and or perhaps re-introduce ourselves to this wonderful place we call home.

Cross Country Camp

The Kapalama Campus Girls Cross Country team holds its 9th annual preseason camp at Kilauea Military Camp in Volcanos National Park. They use this time to focus on the finer points of racing- strategy and tactics- and to run in the beautiful environment of Kilauea.
Ron Bright : Once Upon an Island

This summer program was part of the Hi`ilei Centers of Learning, offering the best of what Kamehameha Schools teaches to both Kamehameha students and Hawaiian youngsters from other schools. Master teacher Ron Bright and whole Bright 'ohana worked their magic with forty middle school students, who worked for six weeks to put on the production "Once Upon An Island."
