Pink for Pauahi

Kamehameha Schools was awash in pink in late October to culminate Breast Cancer Awareness month. Studies have shown that Native Hawaiian women have the highest incidence and mortality rates from breast cancer, which took the life of KS founder Ke Ali‘i Pauahi at the age of 52.  Mahalo nui loa to the faculty, staff members, alumni parents and keiki who honored our beloved princess by taking part in the Pink for Pauahi campaign! Eight-year breast cancer survivor Janis Kane - KS senior director of HR Planning, Compensation and Benefits - encouraged Kawaiaha'o Plaza staffers to perform self breast examinations to discover breast lumps that are not detectable by mammograms.




KS Hawaiʻi Athletic Department staffers are powerful in pink! They are: Pauline Morante, Zeny Eakins, Bernadette Atagi, Wally Ogata, Dan Lyons, Alane Moniz, Jose Saucedo, and Jeff Law.




The KS ‘Alae office in Puna celebrated Pink for Pauahi with pink smoothies! They are (front): Justin Pequeño, Sharay Uemura and Lolly Elizares.
