KS Water Babies

January 30, 2017

He’eia Preschool haumāna visited the Kapālama Campus swimming pool recently and dove into their first swimming lesson. Mike Lum from the campus recreational facilitates department demonstrated basic swimming techniques and the kids took to it like, well, fish to water. It was a fun filled morning for all with lots of splashing and laughing for keiki, teachers and parents.

Keiki sit on the edge of the pool after putting on their pint sized life jackets.

Mike Lum demonstrates how to use your legs to kick.

Vigorous kicking ensues.

Now, stroking.

One girl catches on quickly.

More daring is diving into the water head first.

Diving is no problem.

It’s also fun to jump into the water but watch out below!

The Olympic size heated pool has room to accommodate several class at a time.

Keiki, teachers and parents had a cool time in the pool.

No fear and tears, just smiles and laughter.
