Ho‘olako Like Accreditation Celebration

September 26, 2014

Seven Hawaiian-focused public charter schools and one Hawaiian immersion preschool program recently earned accreditation with the help of the Kamehameha Schools Hoʻolako Like Department.

The charter schools earned accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and ʻAha Pūnana Leo became the world’s first early education program to earn accreditation by the World Indigenous Nations Higher Education Consortium.

The Ho‘olako Like Department hosted a pāʻina at Kawaiaha‘o Plaza to celebrate the accreditations. The event featured mele from Ke Kula 'o Samuel M. Kamakau, hula from Hālau Kū Mana and ‘ono mea ‘ai from chef Kealoha Domingo.

Read more about these charter schools and the rigorous accreditation process they completed in the online story, "KS-supported schools earn accreditation."

Kamehameha Schools’ policy is to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.
